Sri Lanka, July 11 -- Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) carried out inspections at 7,067 dansals across the country yesterday in connection with the Esala Poya Day, Union Secretary Chamil Muthukuda announced.

Speaking to the media, Muthukuda said that 107 dansals with hygiene deficiencies were permitted to continue operations after the identified issues were rectified on-site.

"So far, no dansal has been banned," he confirmed.

The inspection programme is set to continue today as well, with PHIs also focusing on temporary food stalls and dansals operating within Esala zones. The initiative aims to ensure food safety and public health standards during the ongoing religious and cultural observances.
