Bangladesh, July 31 -- The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) announced that 567 court cases have been filed over the past seven months against individuals and unlicensed agencies involved in foreign employment frauds.
The Bureau said it received 2,620 complaints during this period, with over Rs. 199.4 million recovered from suspects for defrauding job seekers.
The SLBFE's Special Investigation Division also carried out five raids, including one on a licensed employment agency engaged in illegal activities. A total of 36 individuals were arrested, including seven from licensed agencies.
In 2024 alone, the Bureau has recovered Rs. 18.25 million for victims of employment-related fraud. A total of 4,658 complaints were recorde...
