Sri Lanka, July 18 -- Sri Lanka Police arrested 3,283 suspects involved in drug trafficking and related crimes during a special operation that began on July 11.
The operation was launched under the instructions of the Acting Inspector General of Police, with a primary focus on curbing drug-related activities across the country.
During the week-long operation, police conducted 3,286 raids, seizing 2,464 drug tablets, 784 illicit cigarettes, and 5,923 cannabis plants.
In addition, officers confiscated large quantities of narcotics, including 1 kg, 733 g, and 174 mg of heroin, and 19 g, 615 mg of hashish, leading to the arrest of 1,147 suspects.
