Sri Lanka, May 19 -- Rainfall exceeding 100 mm is likely in several parts of the country as the South-West monsoon conditions gradually establish over Sri Lanka, the Department of Meteorology forecast today.
According to the department, showery weather is expected to intensify, particularly in the south-western regions, due to the monsoon's growing influence. The enhanced rainfall is forecast for today (May 19) and over the next few days.
Areas at risk of heavy downpours include the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Northern Provinces, as well as the districts of Galle, Matara, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy and Puttalam.
