Sri Lanka, March 27 -- The Inland Revenue Commissioners' Association (IRCA) yesterday revealed that only 46 percent of Sri Lanka's working-age population-those above 18 years-have been issued the mandatory Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TINs), which are essential for all tax-related activities.
Commenting on the low statistics, the association attributed the issue to several factors, including the lack of recognition for compliant taxpayers,
weak marketing efforts to improve public engagement and need for upgrades to the Inland Revenue Department's (IRD) tax administration systems.
