Colombo, March 4 -- The Online Safety Act which was introduced in 2024 will be amended soon following a decision by the government, Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala told Parliament today.
"A commitee comprising representatives of the Public Security Ministry, Health and Media and Ministry of Justice has been appointed for the purpose. The three Ministries are expected to submit a joint Cabinet Paper to amend the Act," the Minister said in response to a question raised by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa in the House today.
The Minister told the House that to this date, no one has been arrested or convicted under the Online Safety Act.
