Sri Lanka, Nov. 21 -- Amid various criticisms on the recently opened 'brown sugar' outlet in Nugegoda, Deputy Minister of Industries Chaturanga Abeysinghe said the outlet has recorded sales exceeding Rs. 800,000 for nine days.

He said this in Parlaiment while responding to an allegation by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Chaminda Wijesiri, who said that sugar sold in the outlet is more expensive than in the market.

The sugar outlet has become a hot topic in social media these days where photos of the outlet are shared showing no customers to buy sugar.
