Srilanka, May 6 -- The National People's Power (NPP) has emerged victorious in the Hambantota Municipal Council election.

According to official results, the NPP secured 4,750 votes, earning 8 seats in the council while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed closely with 3,874 votes and 7 seats.

The People's Alliance (PA) came third, obtaining 1,511 votes and 3 seats, while the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) garnered 1,279 votes, securing 2 seats. The 'Sarvajana Balaya' (SB) also gained representation, receiving 816 votes and 1 seat.
