Srilanka, May 6 -- The National People's Power (NPP) has emerged victorious in the Wattegama Urban Council election earning eight seats in the council.

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) came in second with 1,289 votes and secured four seats.

The People's Alliance (PA) won two seats with 499 votes, while the newly formed 'Sarvajana Balaya' (SB) claimed one seat with 359 votes.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) also managed to retain a presence in the council with 324 votes and one seat.
