Sri Lanka, June 14 -- In response to reports of a current shortage of drugs, Deputy Health Minister Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni has assured the public that there is no shortage of commonly prescribed medicines in government hospitals.
Issuing a statement, Dr. Wijemuni clarified that essential medications for conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes are available without disruption.
However, he acknowledged that certain other drugs have been affected by ongoing supply chain issues.
"These disruptions are not new-they have existed for several years," he stated, adding that comprehensive measures are currently being implemented to resolve the issue entirely by 2026.
