Sri Lanka, Sept. 12 -- Deputy Minister of Fisheries Ratna Dhamija told Parliament today that there are no plans to shut down the Ceylon Fisheries Corporation, dismissing recent media reports claiming otherwise as false.

He said the Corporation currently has a total debt of Rs. 1.6 billion, which is being gradually settled.

"We have assured the Treasury that the Corporation will be transformed into a profit-making entity within two years," the Deputy Minister said.
