Sri Lanka, Dec. 2 -- Sri Lanka will continue to experience showers this month as the Northeast Monsoon remains activated, an official from the Department of Meteorology said yesterday.

Director Department of Meteorology Meryl Mendis told Daily Mirror that Sri Lanka could experience rains starting from the second week in December as the monsoon will be more active during that time. "Sri Lanka is currently in the monsoon period, and therefore some rains could be expected during the second week in December as the Northeast Monsoon is expected to get more active around that time," he said.

Northern and Eastern Provinces are mostly affected by the Northeast monsoon rains which fall at the end of the year.
