Sri Lanka, May 19 -- Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA), Dr. Saveen Semage has tendered his resignation, effective Saturday (17).

Speaking to Daily Mirror, Dr. Semage confirmed that he has submitted his resignation to the Minister of Health citing personal reasons for his decision to step down from the post.

Dr. Semage, further revealed that a complaint has been lodged with the police regarding an incident in which two unidentified men allegedly broke into his residence on May 9.

Police investigations into the matter are currently underway.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has not yet issued an official statement regarding the resignation.
