Sri Lanka, Sept. 8 -- Former Parliamentarian Nimal Lanza was granted bail by the Negombo High Court today.

Lanza was arrested after surrendering to the Kochchikade Police last week over an alleged assault and unlawful entry during a protest in 2006.

He was remanded till September 12 after being produced before the Negombo Magistrate's Court.

The order was issued today after considering a revision application filed challenging the Negombo Magistrate's court order to refuse bail.
