Sri Lanka, Nov. 6 -- The Coconut Cultivation Board announced that the government will provide a subsidy of Rs. 30,000 per acre to coconut growers in the newly established Northern Coconut Triangle.

Board Chairman Dr. Sunimal Jayakody said the financial support aims to help farmers develop water facilities for newly cultivated coconut lands.

The subsidy will be given alongside a program to plant one million coconut trees in the Northern Triangle, while another initiative is underway to distribute free coconut plants to farmers in the region.
