Srilanka, Oct. 11 -- Former MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said today that he never had any intention of executing former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, though some have misunderstood his recent remarks in Matara.

"I only said that the former President would have been executed for ordering a ceasefire in February 2009 and destroying the Forward Defence Lines of the security forces. I only said that a person who betrayed the nation would have been shot using anti-aircraft guns in South Korea and hung by the legs in Saudi Arabia. However, some people, including a Buddhist monk, are uttering things after misinterpreting my sentiments," Field Marshal Fonseka told the media.
