Sri Lanka, Sept. 13 -- Former Chairman of the Wattegama Urban Council, Ravindra Bandara, and businessman Lakshitha Manoj Weerabahu were arrested over an allegedly illegal vehicle import and registration racket, police said.
Investigations have revealed that two Jeep vehicles, suspected to have been brought into the country illegally and registered using falsified details at the Department of Motor Traffic, were also seized.
Police said the arrests were made following inquiries into forged data entries and fraudulent registration records linked to the case.
