Sri Lanka, Nov. 30 -- A Public Health Inspector (PHI) engaged in disaster relief operations has reportedly been threatened with death by a local politician affiliated to the New Democratic Front (NDF).
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Public Health Inspectors' Union President Pradeep Boralessa said the politician had not only hurled obscene verbal abuse at the officer but had also forcefully removed the PHI's life jacket while he was carrying out his duties.
He said the incident has been reported to health authorities, and a formal complaint has also been lodged with the police.
