Sri Lanka, Nov. 28 -- Evacuation operations are underway in Mahawa, Kurunegala, and Eluwankulam, Puttalam after severe flooding affected several communities this morning. The Sri Lanka Navy has deployed multiple relief teams to assist residents stranded by rising water levels.

According to the Navy, the flooding in Mahawa was triggered by the overflow of the Galtan Tank, while heavy inundation in Eluwankulam has also displaced families in the area. Naval personnel, supported by local residents, worked continuously to move affected individuals to safer locations as floodwaters rose.

The Navy said that its teams remain on the ground, actively carrying out ongoing relief and evacuation efforts as the situation continues to develop.
