Sri Lanka, March 19 -- The government is set to appoint a new tax committee as part of its efforts to introduce a National Tax Policy aimed at improving Sri Lanka's reputation as an attractive investment destination in the Asian market.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, secured Cabinet approval this week to appoint the committee, which will operate under the guidance of a Deputy Secretary to the Treasury.

"The framework outlining the proposed functions of the committee was prepared by the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development," the Department of Government Information stated in a press release.
