Colombo, Feb. 28 -- Former Presidents Maithripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickremesinghe stopped investigations into hundreds of frauds and corruption cases during the Yahapalana government, Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala told Parliament today.

"I was the Director of the Anti Corruption Unit during the Yahapalana government. We received 1,200 complaints and 500 of them were refered to various institutions such as the Bribery Commission, FCID and CID for investigations. However, both the then President Maithripala Sirisena and the then Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe stopped many of these after getting into certain political deals.
