Sri Lanka, Dec. 19 -- Authorities have issued a warning to residents living along the Amban River as the Moragahakanda Reservoir is set to release water tonight.
Sluice gate number 3 will be opened by 0.5 meters at 9.45 PM, discharging around 1,500 cubic feet per second in a phased manner.
Engineer in Charge of the Moragahakanda Project, P. S. Bandara urged downstream communities to exercise caution and stay vigilant, highlighting the importance of preparedness for potential water surges.
Local officials are expected to monitor water levels closely to ensure public safety.
