Colombo, Nov. 22 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory warning of severe lightning in several provinces and districts, effective from 12.00 noon today (22) until 11.30 p.m.

According to the advisory, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

The Met Department also cautioned that temporary, localised strong winds may occur during thundershowers and urged the public to take necessary precautions.
