Sri Lanka, Sept. 8 -- Several unauthorized entrances to the Matale General Hospital are raising serious security concerns and putting the safety of patients and staff at risk, Hospital Director Dr. Susantha Fernando said.

He made these remarks at the opening of renovated hospital units worth Rs. 170 million, held under the patronage of Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

"People are entering through unofficial gates, and some vehicles are even using the hospital premises as a shortcut, causing damage to staff vehicles," Dr. Fernando noted.

He also pointed out challenges such as staff shortages and the lack of medical equipment, requesting urgent support.
