Sri Lanka, May 26 -- A man who was trapped under a mound of earth following an embankment collapse in the Bogahamadiththa area of Hali Ela has been successfully rescued, the Badulla District Disaster Management Centre said today.

The incident occurred this morning when an embankment near a residence gave way, causing a large volume of soil to collapse. According to police, the man was trapped while attempting to clear the fallen earth.

An hour-long rescue operation involving local residents, police officers, fire brigade personnel, and medical staff from the Badulla Teaching Hospital led to the safe retrieval of the individual.
