Sri Lanka, Sept. 16 -- A shocking incident of animal cruelty has been reported from Bhagwanthalawa, where security camera footage captured a dog being chased away with hot water while it was sleeping in front of a shop yesterday (15).

The dog, belonging to a local businessman, reportedly accompanies its owner to town each day and returns home with him in the evening.

According to eyewitnesses, the animal had been lying quietly in front of a shop without disturbing anyone when the owner of a nearby scrap metal shop poured hot water on it.

Residents said the dog screamed in pain and ran away after being scalded.
