Srilanka, Feb. 19 -- A 39-year-old man and his 6-year-old daughter were killed in a shooting at Kadewatta Junction in Middeniya.

Police said that the man, his daughter and son were travelling on a motorcycle when an unidentified gunman opened fire at them.

The injured children were taken to hospitals, with the daughter being admitted to the Tangalle Hospital, where she later died.

The son was hospitalised at the Embilipitiya Hospital.

The victims were identified as residents of Galpottha. Police suspect that a T-56 type firearm was used in the shooting.

Investigations are underway.
