Sri Lanka, Sept. 11 -- Former President Maithripala Sirisena has vacated his official residence on Hector Kobbekaduwa Mawatha, Colombo, following the enactment of the Presidents' Entitlements (Repeal) Act, No. 18 of 2025.
The move comes a day after Parliament passed the Presidents' Entitlements (Repeal) Bill without amendments, scrapping a range of benefits previously granted to former Presidents, their widows, and retired Members of Parliament.
Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne signed the Bill into law soon after its passage, giving it immediate effect.
