Sri Lanka, Jan. 5 -- The National People's Power (NPP) Government is making efforts but has so far failed to deliver results, Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said.

"They are trying hard, but they are failing," Rajapaksa said, commenting on the performance of the current administration.

He accused the government of attempting to interfere in all areas of governance, which he claimed was worsening the situation.

"By trying to interfere in everything, they are messing up. Despite their efforts, it is a failure. We do see some positive aspects, but the problem is that most of it is negative," he said.
