Sri Lanka, Jan. 5 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today directed the Cinnamon Gardens Police to inform court in writing whether they intend to withdraw the case filed against journalist Gayan Kalpa Gunaratne on charges of criminal force against a police officer and acting in a manner causing a breach of public peace.

When the case was taken up today, the police officer appearing on behalf of the Cinnamon Gardens Police informed court that the matter had been settled amicably with the consent of both parties.

Accordingly, police further informed court that they do not intend to proceed with the case.
