Sri Lanka, Aug. 7 -- In the government's push against tax evasion, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake revealed in Parliament that he is in possession of a list of 200 major tax evaders, who collectively owe between Rs. 100 to 150 billion in unpaid taxes.

He said the upcoming budget projects a revenue of Rs. 4.5 trillion-an estimate that was initially dismissed by many as unrealistic.

However, the President noted that reforms to the Inland Revenue Department, Customs, and Excise, along with efforts to bring more people into the tax net, are now yielding results.

He also noted that local investment has grown by 18% compared to last year, with signs that 2025 could be one of Sri Lanka's best economic years.
