Srilanka, Feb. 6 -- Slain Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickrematunge's widow Sonali Samarasinghe is tipped to be appointed as Minister Counsellor at Sri Lanka's Permanent Mission to the UN in New York, the Daily Mirror learns.

The appointment comes in the wake of the Attorney General taking steps to release three suspects from the charges regarding the murder of Wickrematunge.

The government is apparently miffed by the decision.
