Sri Lanka, Dec. 9 -- Former Minister Thalatha Athukorala said today that she believes that the land cracked because of the lies uttered by the government.
She told reporters that the government uttered lies at will and misled the people.
"It is my peronal belief. We just say that 'don't tell lies, the land will crack!' That is what has happened," she said and added that "lies are short lived."
Athukorala said she was summoned to the Birbery Commission to record a statement regarding a Cabinet decision taken during the Yahapalana government.
