Sri Lanka, Dec. 2 -- The Irrigation Department announced that water levels in the Kelani River are continuing to recede.
As a result, the flood situation in low-lying areas of the Kelani River basin is gradually easing.
Officials added that water levels in other major rivers and reservoirs, including the Kalu Ganga and Malwathu Oya, are also decreasing.
According to the department, the water level recorded at the Nagalagam Street gauge, which stood at 8 feet at 2:00 a.m. today, had dropped to 7.9 feet by 3:00 a.m.
