Sri Lanka, Jan. 12 -- The restoration of the Kandy railway line which was damaged by Cyclone Ditwah will be completed within a year, Deputy Minister of Transport Prasanna Gunasena said.

He said the cost of restoring the Peradeniya - Rambukana line will be dollars 74 million, while the Gampola - Nawalapitiya line will cost dollars 35 million.

In addition, he said the cost of renovating the Yaka bridge is estimated to be dollars 18 million.

The issue pertaining to restoring the railway lines is finding equipment as the government has adequate funds for it at the moment.
