Sri Lanka, Oct. 31 -- Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Jagath Vithana said Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya expressed regret over the statement he had made in Kandy.

He told reporters after the meeting held in Parliament over the opposition MPs security, attended by the IGP and the Speaker.

The MP said Speaker Jagath Wickramarante and the IGP agreed to provide security to all MPs who request for security.

MP Vithana said the IGP informed that he had threats from several groups and assured to pay special attention to the matter.

A discussion was held in Parliament today headed by the Speaker, following a request by the Opposition MPs.
