Sri Lanka, Jan. 16 -- The Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) announced its opposition to the 'Praja Shakthi' programme implemented by the government.
Its media spokesperson and former MP M.A. Sumanthiran pointed out that it is a party-based method.
He said that it is being implemented parallel to the state machanism and that it is a wrong precedent.
"The development work that should be carried out by the Local Government representatives elected by the people is being carried out through the Praja Shakthi programme, thereby obstructing the activities of those institutions," Sumanthiran added.
He further emphasised that it is against the Constitution and that legal action will be taken against it in the future.
