Sri Lanka, Jan. 28 -- The capacity of generating power in the Lakvijaya Power Plant, Norochcholai has affected as a result of inferior quality coal, Plant Manager P. W. Bamunusinghe revealed yesterday.
Mr. Bamunusinghe told the opposition MPs who visited the power plant that the daily generation of power was reduced by 95MW as a result of first shipment of coal.
"The capacity was dropped after we used the second shipment of coal but more or less to the same extent. We have stopped unloading of the third shipment due to technical issues and had begun unloading the fourth shipment," he said during a briefing.
"We have informed relevant authorities of the issues pertaining to the quality of coal. We have done our duty," Bamunusinghe added...
