Sri Lanka, June 23 -- Iran has claimed responsibility for an attack on American forces stationed at the Al Udeid air base in Qatar, one of the largest U.S. military installations in the Middle East.
The announcement was broadcast on Iranian state television, accompanied by martial music and a caption describing the strike as "a mighty and successful response by the armed forces of Iran to America's aggression."
The reported attack followed Qatar's decision to temporarily close its airspace as a precaution amid rising tensions and threats from Tehran.
