Colombo, May 11 -- The Department of Prisons announced that inmates across the country will be granted the opportunity for open visits in celebration of Vesak Poya Day.
According to the Department, the special visitation arrangement will be in effect on May 12 and 13 allowing relatives to visit inmates under relaxed conditions in honour of the religious holiday.
As part of the Vesak initiative, families will also be permitted to bring food parcels, sweets and personal hygiene items for their incarcerated loved ones.
