Sri Lanka, Dec. 5 -- An Indian technology company specialising in drone operations for disaster response and geospatial mapping has offered technical assistance to Sri Lanka to strengthen its disaster-management capacities.

During discussions with the Prime Minister, representatives proposed using drones to enhance documentation, mapping, and real-time monitoring during emergencies.

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya welcomed the proposal and acknowledged that Sri Lanka needs to modernize its early-warning systems, noting that insufficient technology had limited the ability to predict this year's extreme rainfall.
