Sri Lanka, Dec. 23 -- India commits a reconstruction package of USD 450 million to Sri Lanka, External Affairs Minister of India Dr. S. Jaishankar announced today.
In a joint media briefing, he announced that he handed over a letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, carrying this message.
"The assistance package that we have proposed is worth USD 450 million. It will include USD 350 million concessional line of credit and USD 100 million of grants," he said.
Dr. Jaishankar said he had a detailed discussion with the President on the damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah and also the discussions centred around how expeditiously the commitment can be delivered.
