Sri Lanka, June 20 -- Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya says there is an urgent need to reduce the food waste and improve food security in Sri Lanka.
She made this statement while speaking at a policy meeting organised by the World Bank and the Government of Sri Lanka, with help from the Gates Foundation and other international partners.
At the event, the Prime Minister spoke about three important lessons for the country's food security - working together, using new ideas and making sure no one is left out.
She also said it is important to use modern technology, support agricultural trade and involve women and young people in improving the country's food systems.
