Sri Lanka, Aug. 14 -- Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasuriya revealed that politicians supporting underworld figures and drug traffickers have already been identified and will face legal action in due course.
Speaking to the media after officially assuming duties today, IGP Weerasuriya said that there is an urgent need to strengthen existing laws to effectively combat the rising crime and drug-related activities in the country.
He said that the current legal framework is insufficient to support sustained raids and enforcement actions.
