Sri Lanka, Dec. 18 -- Investigations have revealed that several police officers, including the OIC, the Traffic OIC of the Sapugaskanda Police Station had failed to properly discharge their duties in relation to a road accident involving former Speaker and MP Ashoka Ranwala.

The accident occurred on 11 December 2025, when a jeep driven by former Speaker Ashoka Sapumal Ranwala collided with a motorcycle and a car near the Denimulla Junction in Sapugaskanda.

Following the incident, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Traffic Division conducted an investigation on the directives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to determine whether the officers of the Sapugaskanda Police Station had acted in accordance with due ...
