Sri Lanka, June 2 -- The tusker, popularly known as "Bhatiya," which is considered the only tusker of its generation in the jungles bounded by Nikaweratiya and Ambanpola, has been critically ill and is under the treatment of wildlife veterinary surgeons from Maho.
The tusker that suffered a disorder in its left limb had been recovering due to the treatments when it strayed away into Polpithigama tank reservation and lay in the muddy water.
Wildlife officials said they have to take much pains to provide treatments to the tusker and to save its life.
They pointed out that the jumbo was seriously ill, with its front left limb swollen and difficult to be fed.
