Sri Lanka, Nov. 7 -- Hype of activities were witnessed in the Parliamentary complex yesterday with cleaning and colour washing for the budget which is to be presented today.

The walls were being painted while the wooden staircases were being varnished as of last afternoon.

Smell of new paint and floor polish filled the air making those who were in and around to rub their noses from time to time.

Police officers were also seen carrying out search operations. It was reported earlier that a search operation will take place before the budget and that even the rooms and lockers of Members of Parliament will also be checked.

A special security system will be in place on the day of the budget as it has been already announced by the Speaker. ...
