Sri Lanka, Dec. 9 -- The Department of Wildlife Conservation has reimposed restrictions on vehicle movement through Horton Plains National Park, closing the roads to regular traffic from Sunday (7).
The routes, which were temporarily opened for public use due to the recent disaster situation across the island, will now remain accessible only to local and foreign tourists visiting the park.
Officials said that visitors using these roads must purchase entry tickets as usual. With major roads in the Nuwara Eliya area now restored to normal condition, the Department decided there is no longer a need to keep Horton Plains roads open for general transport, and that priority should return to conserving the protected area.
