Colombo, April 21 -- A total of 162 new complaints related to the upcoming Local Government elections were received, marking it the highest number of complaints reported within a 24-hour period since March 20.
The 162 complaints were received up to 4.30 pm on April 19.
According to the Election Commission, a total of 1,874 cases have been reported during the period from March 20 to April 19.
Of the total complaints, the National Centre for Election Complaint Management received 145, while the District Centres for Election Complaint Management received 1,720.
All complaints were categorised as breaches of laws, with nine incidents of violence being reported.
