Sri Lanka, Nov. 27 -- Several areas in the Nuwara Eliya district have been severely affected by prevailing inclement weather, a senior official from the District Disaster Management Centre (DDMC) said.
The official reported that Nuwara Eliya town and Kandapola have gone underwater, while areas in Walapane and Nuwara Eliya face risks of earth slips. Drivers have been warned to avoid parking vehicles in locations vulnerable to landslides and falling rocks.
Thick mist in the region is also reducing visibility on the roads, prompting authorities to urge motorists to exercise extreme caution when traveling through affected areas.
